ISSUE
- After introducing generative AI, adoption at the practical, day-to-day operational level leveraging internal information failed to gain traction.

ISSUE

Limitations of General-Purpose Generative AI and Delayed Entrenchment due to Lack of Skills

As part of its company-wide DX initiatives, a major pharmaceutical company introduced generative AI. However, usage remained limited to a small group of employees, and adoption failed to take hold across the organization. In particular, general-purpose generative AI was unable to generate responses based on proprietary internal information, leading to widespread feedback that the system did not deliver the answers employees expected.
In addition, differences in prompt-writing skills resulted in uneven levels of utilization, preventing the company from fully realizing improvements in operational efficiency and knowledge sharing.
SOLUTION

Establishment of a Dedicated Internal Generative AI Environment Integrating Proprietary Internal Information and Practical Training

We supported the initiative through two key pillars: integrating proprietary internal information using RAG and delivering prompt development workshops. First, we built a dedicated internal generative AI environment that enables the secure use of internal data. Built on cloud-based AI services, the system allows responses to be generated while referencing proprietary internal information.
Next, we conducted prompt development workshops for selected members of the sales organization. Using real business challenges as the basis for exercises, participants iteratively refined their prompts through consultant feedback, resulting in the creation of numerous prompts that could be effectively applied in frontline operations.
RESULT

Achieving Operational Efficiency and Cultivating a Utilization Culture Led from the Frontlines

By integrating internal information through RAG, employees were able to obtain responses grounded in internal policies and knowledge, leading to a significant improvement in operational efficiency. Routine tasks such as inquiry handling and report creation were automated, enabling employees to focus on higher value-added work.
In addition, workshop participants began acting as internal generative AI ambassadors, driving adoption particularly within the sales organization. Deployment has since expanded to other departments, and under a culture that encourages experimentation, a work environment is taking shape in which employees across the company actively incorporate generative AI into their daily operations.
