Transforming Sales Processes through BPMN-Based Process Visualization and Generative AI Role-Play

We visualized business processes using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) to identify opportunities for applying generative AI. In particular, we developed generative AI–powered sales role-play scenarios for the sales organization, creating hundreds of hours in time savings and standardizing proposal skills.

    A major food and consumer goods manufacturer was advancing DX with the goal of becoming a data-driven organization. However, insufficient cross-departmental collaboration and highly individualized business processes created a gap between frontline teams and the DX function.
    In addition, while generative AI had been introduced, its use remained limited to individual employees and had yet to drive organization-wide business transformation. As a result, there was a growing need for frontline-led change initiatives.

    Working in close collaboration with the DX Promotion Office, we used BPMN to visualize and streamline business processes, helping identify areas where generative AI could deliver the greatest impact. We also provided prompt engineering training for frontline teams and developed standardized templates through hands-on workshops.
    In the sales organization, we analyzed the end-to-end sales process and developed an AI-powered sales role-play solution. By introducing a mechanism in which generative AI acts as the customer and delivers real-time feedback, we enabled rapid skill development among early-career sales professionals and improved the overall quality of sales proposals.

    Within the sales organization, the time required for sales role-play, including preparation, was significantly reduced, generating several hundred hours of annual time savings. The accuracy of generative AI responses also improved, and the solution is now being rolled out to additional groups within the department.
    Furthermore, by advancing the transformation through close collaboration between frontline teams and the DX function, change was achieved while minimizing the operational burden on the field. By prioritizing real business challenges and frontline engagement, the initiative successfully delivered both operational transformation through generative AI and lasting cultural adoption.
